I keep learning the hard way - and through others - that you never get over past love. No matter how many there have been, they remain as half-open doors over half-closed wounds. You never lock away the word yearning, you can't take flight without being burned to ash. You wait for a ruinous knee or the light murmur of a smile. It's harder still when you can't look ahead when the heart's eye is set on the half-open crack fluttering in the winter gale or a summer's breeze. And you're a little upset, enough to say, let it be. Come in, love, the door is as you like it.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
