I had taken a year off. I had worked on the ship and raised enough money. At that time, my niece (my father, poor man, nicknamed her Carlos) was still young, and my sister often called on me to babysit. Maximum fun. One evening, after hard work of clarification, I finally convinced her to go to bed. I stood in the doorway for a while, listening to her pray. Please, God, make me a good girl. Make me listen to mommy for at least a week, because I want to, God, but I can't.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
