My hand is trembling, my finger twitching like a blindfold, I eat and sleep without touching it. This abstinence brings me down worse than any other narcotic. Any thought that escapes the door of his crooked mouth brings him into question, but I stand firm. It's calling. I answer quickly, but without prolonging the conversation, then I throw him tenderly, kissing him with a warm look in passing. Then an unstoppable boil from the stink of lust and restlessness pushes me into the abyss of reading. What do I have in the newsfeed?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
