He said that he could no longer bear the shame of the shattering garbage bags. He bought some black, thick ones, in order not to be seen the remnants of the fluid nights. He said that he could no longer stand my breath and my purple lips, that I was completely changed, and if he could split me (in other way than with these sharp words), it would flow black wine (Negru de Purcari). I said: I will touch the glass with wine again, I swear. The next day I broke them all, so they wouldn't laugh at me, empty, tempting. Now I'm sitting on the floor with the bottle in my hand, lying myself that I didn't lie.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
