The icon with St. George is supported by the brandy bottle received at Gheo's daughter from Vale de Râpă, Măriuca's wedding with Aglaia's son, Jenica from the mine. And with his eyes closed he is praying that at least the Saint will fight with the dragon of his being, because he is powerless before him. He is praying and crying, crying and praying, but the tears on his cheek are burning him, they are 52o, he is sticking them and the spark of the life begins to catch a whirlwind of desire in his wet eyes. I'm giving up next year, he says, and the bottle is already half empty and the Saint guards the ceiling.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
