I knocked on the door and walked nervous into the room. Five pairs of eyes looked at me questioningly. Girls, you know, I used to sit in this room, look, here, where you sit, I slept for five years, we ate at the table by the window, and you still hold the cold stew on the windowsill? Familiar images rolled through my mind quickly, but they couldn't be related to the foreign room. It wasn't mine, and yet it was mine. Could I scratch the wall a little? Maybe it kept something forgotten somewhere. I would very much like to remember.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
