Excuse me, I arrived earlier. Take a seat. Do you have an existence file? I realize I am carrying a heavy file in my arms. Is this it? Hand it over. He puts on his golden glasses, flips through the pages. He swiftly snorts. He frowns. He flips through the pages again. He smiles a couple of times. I do not know how much time has passed, because nobody keeps track in here anymore. You have amassed a bit too much in the Postpone section. Regrets - plenty in here too. There are a couple of nice things in Revelations, but I am afraid it will not be enough. Here, take the file to room 404. You will attend re-education.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
