The functionary was checking the papers. ID, criminal record, marital status affidavit, movable and immovable property ownership papers, income statement, application. He was giving her a copy of the application and wondering where he had seen that disgusted look before. She looked like Johanna's mother, that was it. The copy had 101 written on it so he climbed to the first floor. A grumpy man told him that that was the order number, it is not supposed to go anywhere. What a dream. Ioana was asleep. 102 sent a photo, Ioana's phone lit up. 101 was crying.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
