First one on the right, you hear it like a dream and make your way towards it. From semi-darkness, a voice speaks up: take a seat, what is bothering you. You almost say the day - the sun, the night - the moon and the stars, but you figure she may not be a fan of Sorescu and answer plainly: the heart. Let's see, says the voice, turning into a tall Goddess and coming towards you, spreading strings on your body like a fisherman throwing his fishnet in the sea. And the heart allows itself to be caught, and it starts writing a letter, which the Goddess reads with a smile on Her face.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
