Ahad was the first. At the first meeting, she cut off both of his hands, his fingers tenderly prolonged any imaginary feeling. Jabir's eyes were two green islands in the middle of a tumultuous ocean. She cut off both of them with the whole root of their embrace. She took Kamal's lips marked from kissing, then Shakeel's eyebrows, beautifully arched like the wings of a falcon in flight. She was getting better at this. Maheera was a mighty woman, in love with beauty, which she knew where to find in smaller things.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
