Baby, we're drinking champagne in Paris, we've rented a plane and a limo but we're not happy. And do you know why? Because we've been poor for 25 years and this is still following us. The fact that we can afford everything has almost wrecked our relationship. Well, what can we do about it? We're taking the plane back home tomorrow. We're going to Bucharest by cart to the Puchenii Mari. Oh, this sounds so good. You see? We'll buy our traditional pork salami, mustard, bread made on the stove and our plum brandy. We'll crack pieces of wood and we'll make love to each other like some wild animals.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
