The gypsy man, his gypsy wife and their brats, all of them starving, were sitting around the table and dreaming. You say that, yo' papa's Tarzan, what'd you do if we had some fried chicken and bowl of garlic sauce? I'd rip off a drumstick, dip it in the sauce and I'd bite on it, savouring, so I'd have the sauce dripping on my cheeks, the way I like it. Yo', Hesmeralda, what'd you do? I'd rip its neck off and I'd suck on it loudly to the bone, the way I like it. The gypsy wife, all mad: Yo, eat with manners, otherwise I'll kick you the hell out of the house.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
