An idea and a thought saw each other on a frowning forehead. You seem familiar tome, said the Idea. The thought stared at her. You think so? And it lays a strand of hair on its nonexistent temple. Some time passed by and the glimpses between them became more often. Have you been here before? The idea swung a bit on her nonexistent legs. You think so? I would like to spend a life with you. The idea flinched. What about an eternity? Someone will write us down and we will be immortal. A him and a she. A love story impossibly possible. The thought had an idea. The idea thought why not?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
