They had promised themselves that they would search in everything that's lifeless and lifeful. As he grew into a tree, she kissed him from an amber seed. When she was a piece of glass from a window, he loved her from the ice flower. As he sprouted grass, she embraced him with a Sun ray. As she whispered in the wind, he pretended to be a cave. He fell meteorite, she rose. She stepped into the rock, he stood beside her, a thread of cosmic dust. They found each other in every age, in every universe. Today was the time for them to beat hearts, to be the two of them again.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
