I was fascinated by my grandfather's face, aged and burdened alike. When he spoke, I didn't even breathe, for I feared I would miss his words. There's a story that I cherish in my mind like an icon. It took God six days to create sky, earth, water, sun, moon, fish, birds, and then Man. And on the seventh day, when he was resting His infinity, knowing that the man wasn't perfect, he made him whole by giving him Soul. That is the greatest Miracle, child. With it you can mould and see every wonder of this world. Look for it in everything and you will have everything.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
