Uncle, I looked for you like crazy, I just came by train from Bucharest, you don't know me, but I dreamed of you the other day, your name was Amariei and you were grazing your sheep here in Apuseni, I was passing by with my backpack. Your dogs rushed to me, you whistled them only before they tore me, you told me to put up my tent and in the morning, while eating polenta with urda and cream, you told me you knew the most beautiful red head with blue eyes. Well, lad, I dreamt of a red head student myself last night, so I'm gonna go to Bucharest after her.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
