I am cuddling up absentmindedly in the embrace of the armchair. From the white wall are looking at me dozens of faces, inquisitive, affectionate, interrogative. All my reactions are mirrored by those paintings. I am coming over to Petre`s house every time when my paths become wires. Who am I? This thought was crossing my mind. My darling, I hear his hoarse voice, dancing with the puffs of smoke, you are what you are delivering around you. What you are looking for is there, in the people from your life. Learn to recognize yourself in them. Accept what they mirror about you, or change that.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2022, the group has 8,175 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
