I live on the ninth floor, so I'm taking the elevator. There I took the decision to get married, there I met my mistress and I also got divorced in the elevator. I had a bad argument with my neighbor from the fifth floor, I was bitten by my neighbor's dog from the first floor, I got beaten up by some people who were going up to the eight floor. The postman didn't recognize me one morning and hit me in the nose with a paralyzing spray, the cleaning lady is making moves on me when she catches me around and I listen to the offers of the building manager every Thursday at 5 o'clock. Aunt Viorica from the fourth floor pinches my ass when she confuses me with nea Iulică. I could take the stairs.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2022, the group has 8,175 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
