I have two lovers, one's from Bucharest, the other from Timișoara. They don't know about each other, even though they both came to see me in Cluj. Oh, I bet you'd say I'm a bitch. That's what my mother told me when I ran away from home. I went to the train station with three rags in my bag. From the first line departed the train to Bucharest, from the second the one for Timișoara. Which one should I go on? Jesus, there were only 10 minutes left and I still couldn't decide which men I loved. Miss, do you want to go to the beach?, a tall, splendid guy asked. Now I sit on the beach, looking at him and wondering if I love three men.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In July 2022, the group has 8,750 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
