One day? Maybe a year. Or ten. If it were in my power, I would put a lock on them. I would crush consumerism like a ladybug. I would take only my soul with me and climb the mountains. I would drink spring water, I would sleep on the grass, under a conspicuously deep sky. I would hug the trees and scream at them be happy having the other's back, sipping each other's sap. I would also invite you to my place. We would learn to love (each other) again, we would learn again to talk (to each other) and above all to listen (to each other). Wake up. The planet is burning.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
