I'm an adult and I'm not crying while writing this text. I'm 18 and I'll drive like my dad, who I asked when I was a kid why he doesn't crash. I'm 16 and I'm toasting a beer with my dad even though I'm small. I'm 14 and I'm going with my dad to get my ID as he promised me when I was little. I'm 12, I won my first medal in sports, and my dad was in the bleachers, only he enrolled me when I was little. I just turned 10 and I'm all grown up now because I have to say goodbye to my dad. I'm an adult and I don't cry.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
