Off I go flicking the child in me because he forgot to play. I flicked him so hard over the nose it almost flew off, but it was high enough anyway. Flicks turn to slaps, then I get to tickling his ego and throwing him in the swing where he once got his finger stuck. Where he had Tom Thumb read to him for the first time. I brought him back with milk on the top lip and a craving for playful halva. What in the dragonfly was he waiting for? It's 1-0 for me today. I want my knees to be all scraped up from hopscotching all week.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
