I'm wearing my dress with the tiny tiny white wildflowers. There's a small veil around my waist and a puppy's hanging off of it. Mom's spoiling me with thousands of caresses, dad's teaching me to swim. I find myself in their arms so often that there's no time left for mischief. Good thing I began reading early on and found out how other kids are and I imagined stories like theirs. I don't agree with this, the therapist said, just tell me how your childhood was and recreate your past traumas so I can help you out.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
