I would dance regardless of the song, I would sing as if no one was listening, I would write even though I didn't know the alphabet, I would make jokes without expecting a reaction and I would talk to everyone I met. Now I sit stiffly in a chair, I sing only when I'm alone, at home, and I judge every word I write down. I wish that time would pass more slowly, like it did before, I wish to be fascinated by rain, to eagerly await Christmas, to make friends with a simple question, to not plan out my every move. I wanted to grow up, but I didn't know what it was like.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
