I remember when you would cry and shoult at me for anything, because dad went out to get cigarettes and didn't get back home for the rest of the night. I remember how my first baby tooth fell out, because it didn't fall out, but you got it out with a backhand. I remember when you came to the Christmas celebration in the 2nd grade - you were hungover, and you stood behind me with your head on the desk. I remember when I came home disappointed that I hadn't been picked for the team. And you, instead of consoling me, told me that football isn't for me.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
