That's some mighty fine corn. Cheers to my whole family. Hey, Tanymecus dilaticollis, spare some for my kids, my dude. Ostridia nubialis, you strip everything off, you never spare anything. But who's the lady? That's Diabrotica virgifera, a fiery American. Hello, baby. Tanymecus, what an honor to meet you. We emigrated because we were starving and they were exterminating our family. Here, in Romania, it's paradise. Let's go under the leaves and give birth to a new species. I have a feeling we'll colonize the world. Yo, you'd have had smort kids with me. This isn't Columbus, it's Cornass.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
