I remember perfectly when we met at the countryside and we slept in each other's arms in the rye field. It was corn, honey. Yes, the rain came and woke us up in the middle of the night, soaking us to the skin. Only that it was afternoon, my dear. Exactly, exactly. The old woman put her hand on her old man's neck, sitting down beside him in the woolen armchair. The fog of memories slowly dissipated. The details didn't matter anymore, they enjoyed the time they were still given to be together, watching over each other's field.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
