There was a deep silence that was floating in the air, feeling as intense as a bruise left out by unforgiveness. Oniță gathered his thoughts that were rather wandering through the ewes, shoving his cap on his head, and set off for the crest of the hill. His comrade was the rod of oak, the only thing left behind by Iustin. Since he found him torn to pieces, those shiny and cold ignorance eyes have been following him, hunting his soul. It has been lurking on him since dusk, it found his hideout. In the dead of the night, a sharp blade and a wolf howl reddened the roundness of the moon.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
