You don't even notice the cage you're in until someone comes along and lets you out. Fred, you must understand that we can't keep living like this. Me breathing in your exhale, you watching me kiss Lena, me closing my eyes when you pleasure yourself, and you not feeling it. You know that everybody says it's okay if we go through with it. Come on, don't cry. I know it might suck for you, but medically speaking, this is the right moment. We'll live like Siamese twins until Geta pulls us apart. What do you mean who? The doctor.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
