Perfect without you, he was singing along while driving to the sea, not tired one bit. Instinctively, he looked to the right, where, on the empty passenger seat, he had placed a note to fight memory loss: it's another day, you have to milk it in order to get the joy of a coffee with milk. His smile faltered, coffee meant mornings without the solar honey that entered through the windows of his heart. His thoughts revolved around names and figures, like comic books of fate. He shoved them away with his long untouched hand and in the empty air he hit a spark reflected by the road, a bizarre butterfly, like a tear.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
