cries often. When he sees that the beauty of music hurts me. When I stab myself with letters in the eye. When books collapse on me and I fall down, full of soul bruises. When my heart rarely beats, suffocated by lying people. When I take the black in the sun as beautiful. And he cries, shaken that he can't protect me, clean me, defend me from the life polluted with things he didn't know about. Today he was among people and came back with dirty wings. I'm crying with him now too. Angels have no business among people, because we hurt them in the whiteness of them.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
