Tudorița was bursting with talent. The dead she prepared looked even better than the living. She got them ready for the big date, full of devotion. She made herself a favor, maybe it will count when she'll face the Big Boss. Lately, death rarely came in the city. Not even the old people rushed to the after life anymore. The business was surviving somehow. Always someone to bribe at the hospital, someone to receive a discount. But Tudorita didn't want to lose her edge. So she put up her neon sign high above the city: At Three Coffins offers three samples ahead of the big day. Bonus the koliva.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
