The first husband, the sailor man, I buried quickly. There was a terrible storm, and in 6 moths I became a window. The second husband, the pilot, we stayed together for 9 months. All it took was a technical issue and he dived into his own death. Mr. Nelu, the boss, was doing business in the funeral industry. Gentle, he told me: "Madam, I've seen a lot in my business. Stop messing with men in high positions. Take me. I have connections with eternity, and no risk. Now, at wake, I regret my choice. To remain stuck in a coffin, just because you wanted to fix a hinge, I consider that a high risk.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
