Yes, my dear, I know. You don't like leeks, because it's food for the poor. You like jazz, because your mom had you in the Grin Auărs yard. You are an intellectual, of great finesse, I don't even know why you are in my life. Will you give me a break with all these airs and graces? You'd think you've got blue blood or something. You've forgotten those potluck days at your mom's, huh? And those were good days, otherwise it was potato stew. Let me write you a song, make you a hit, make you immortal: my wife doesn't like leeks anymore.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
