I fell in love with her on a picnic blanket. We were lying down and picking up stars from the oak tree's branches with our gaze. I took her hand, her warmth went straight to my heart at that was it. Later we got drunk on love as well as alcohol, a bottle of Stalinskaya that we drank like it was water after many days in the desert. When I woke up, I had Eureka written on my arm, a bit lower than my elbow. I swore to never set foot in a tattoo parlor again, not even drunk, while Erika was laughing her ass off tangled in the sheets perfumed with lilac.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
