I was buried in smoke, dirty cups of coffee and books. The numbers filled tens of crumpled pieces of paper. Suddenly, everything was clear and the wanted result appeared in the corner of the paper. I jumped to the window, opened it and screamed at the top of my lungs: Eureka. Spring exploded in my face and a blonde girl stopped and smiled at me. Finally, my calculations proved wrong. The girl moved in with me. It's spring again. Now the window is open and a floral smell lingers in the air. Her name is Erika.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
