Four brothers On Horses' Easter, God, the world has become godless, it's Easter and look at Ceașcă's brothers, they're grappling in the field, like there's no tomorrow. They're pitilessly working their beasts of burden, they have no care for their souls. She was shaking her head in disapproval as she was placing the customary red eggs in the basket to go to the cemetery. Then they're surprised that Saint Ilie will strike them with his lightning, but they won't let those horses rest even on this holy day of Easter. How can the universe bear them? Put a sock in it, woman, they celebrated Ascension last Thursday already.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
