I'm going to take care of you like you hoped they would. I'm going to protect you in the face of danger like no one ever has before. I'm going to smile at you with wisdom and tell you everything's going to be fine, whenever you're scared. I'm going to make sure you feel the support you've been looking for with big, curious, brown, childlike eyes, every morning. I'm going to tell you that you're good enough. That you've done everything you could and that was enough. When I grow up, I'm going to give myself everything I didn't know while I was feeling small.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
