I will look for my father and ask him: why weren't you there for me when I took my first steps, why didn't you take me to school on my first day, why didn't YOU teach me how to ride a bicycle and where were you when I fell off of it, why didn't you pick up the phone when I was secretly calling you from the bathroom and why did you change your phone number? Why didn't you look for me? Why did you only care for my mother and didn't give a damn about me? Why didn't you love me? I'm now 15 years old and that day has finally come. Hello, father! How have you been? I missed you.

Nadina Vișan / Edited by Silvia Petrescu, coordinator of the translations)Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days.
