I was born into a family of typical aliens. From the first day they hugged me, gave me milk and whispered songs. Over time, our relationship became more and more difficult. The doctor told them I was atypical. They ask me to look them in the eyes, listen to them and other meaningless things. They have a strange, fast language. They speak slowly to me and I manage to understand a word. Toy. Biscuit. Water. Arms. Boyfriend. It's true they can be annoying, but we don't choose our family. One day I hope I can tell them how much I love them.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
