Teacher, did you like my story? Are you gonna publish it in the school magazine? No? So I should stop writing because I don't write well and you waste your time reading my absur, what? I don't know that word, what does it mean? Go to class? But teacher, what's wrong? My story is fabul, ah, she's always going into the lounge. It's okay, I'll grow up and get a pseudonym, write the best novels, no one will know who I am until one day, when I'll win the Nobel and everyone will see me, including the Romanian teacher. And she'll be sorry.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
