I'll wipe away my sisters' tears. I'll buy Taara books. Ever since she was a little girl she's wanted to be a teacher, and now she's not even allowed to go to school. I will give Latifa the most beautiful dresses and she will be the first in all sports dance competitions. And Damsa will never miss the canvas, the colors, even the spray tubes, even if it's dangerous to write her messages on the walls. I don't want anything for myself. It's enough that I have the chance to go and follow my dream to the other end of the world.

Nadina Vișan / Edited by Silvia Petrescu, coordinator of the translations)Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days.
