We're sitting like sprats crammed into the innards of this wooden horse. It's such a bother. And the last meal we had was scrambled beans. I shouldn't have had two helpings. But whatever, I'll fart quietly when those drunks come by and pretend it's not coming from me. I'll blame it on Athlon for being fat. I wonder why he's here. He's got two seats and he's not going to make a big deal here. Ah, cheese and barley, that's what I should have eaten. Tomorrow morning at acratimas, after we've chopped these people up, I'll have smoked fish. Mm, how delicious.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
