Bullshit, she only knew one when she took up smoking again, swallowing the entire earth with the first smoke. She had promised her therapist she would sit alone on a bench. She peeled the gum off her flip-flop and logged in to her Facebook, forgetting about the minutes that ran by. Should I still breastfeed this little guy? I'm so sick of my body. When she stood up, she clenched her fists, nails digging into her skin until it bled, she shivered with catharsis and was hit by a flood of tears that sprang from the blackness of existence, though she wished she could be rainbows to her little one.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
