Miss took us to the doctor's office to measure us and check us for lice. The Nurse was supposed to do that, not Miss. Then I waited for donkey's years: some have sooo much hair and sooo many inches. And I wanted to sit down for a while, too, because my feet hurt. And I sat down on the bed. And as I sat down, I felt like it was a bed with springs and I told Mihai. We didn't have a contest, we just wanted to see who could jump higher. I don't understand why the misses were upset, because we took our shoes off before we jumped on the bed.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
