He walked on the door just as I was reading about how Hubble had captured two galaxies circling each other. I was lost, looking at their picture, thinking how small we are. I asked her, with my mind somewhere else, how her first day was. She replied that there were good and bad parts. Tell me about the bad parts. I'm not telling you, some things keep to themselves. Or we just share them with ourselves, but ourselves from the future. Do you talk often to yourself, the one from the future? All the time. And what does she tell you?' \'That we'll still be here. Is that good? I don't know, she's always quiet when I ask her that.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
