There is a cool place at the end of Săpânța village, which the locals have turned into the art of staying merry for eternity. I myself bought a plot there for my soul to laugh at you from the other side as well. In The Merry Cemetery, everyone has written their life story on their tombstone cross,in verse, describing it in a way which is both fictional and realistic. Mine goes like this: In the house without a number, all I do is sit and ponder, I've never been an absolute angel, but nor was I a faithless stranger. Since I am about to die, let me tell you: it was I. It was I who seduced all your women, got it?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
