I love you, said C, I'll keep you just to myself. I'll cherish you, I'll take care of you as if you were the last of your kind, he continued. Let me just touch you, there. Let me open my shirt, so you can nestle against me, against my hairy manly chest. Oh, I am so incredibly lucky, I found you just like I would find a ripe pear right at the end of the market day, if I'd been 5 minutes late, someone else would've stolen you away from me. There now, I'll just take you home, he said and got on his bike. He took the first curve and fell. He felt hotness on his abdomen. He hoped against hope it was his blood but the smell of palinca made him cry.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2023, the group has 10,790 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
