I was following you on the alley, until you sharply turned and entered the first building. I was afraid you might have saw me, didn't understand and call the police. In the next weeks I kept my distance from you, even if I now regretted that the wind couldn't provide me with the smell of your perfume. I told my therapist that I am in love. He seems as if he were sorry for me, but that arrogant thinks that you are only in my dreams. I haven't told me that you're not only in my imagination anymore since we met. Shh, don't cry, you know that I love you.

It's evening. Vera and Pricop are on the grey balcony, having a glass of red wine. An eight of the Moon could be seen behind the illegally built building across the street. Vera remembers: do you recall, Pric, when we were walking hand in hand around the vineyard, at my mother's? Or when you used to write me from the army perfume-sprayed letters? What has changed between us, where is that long-gone romance? Prichi takes a sip from his wine, thinking: Vera, dear, things have partly changed when you undressed for the first time and then totally changed after your father lost the vineyard gambling.

the continents reunited and that's when I said: Hey, baby, now the entire Earth is ours and the only water you'll ever see will be the one on our bodies which will connect in order to repopulate the planet with tiny results of our love. You nodded, tearing my shirt instead of unbuttoning it, put a pillow between the bed and the wall, blindfolded yourself because we didn't have blinds and you rode me, like a predator who likes to play with his prey, until the steps on the Richter scale fell. The volcanoes started to fume.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2024, the group has 13,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
