Dull heaps of compacted scraps, bones, fingers, legs, a timely sectioned erect member, jaws still rounded from thick cheeks, all are mixed in the immense vat. I added then a splash of water, gelatin, and a few vegetables. For taste, salt and pepper. Then, in the well-washed and emptied intestines, I inserted the obtained paste. I told him I will eat him alive if he lays a finger on my daughter. The police are still searching for her abuser. Today, I will visit the bastard's parents to deliver the much-desired sausage.

The hardest part was the first dissection, back in college, when his colleagues played a prank on him, and he found a sectioned penis in his bag. He threw up for three days. Now, he examines everything with the rigor of a forensic expert, labelling each bag: the procured organ, gender, age. Who knows what is missing or not from a body after it's been sealed. At home, he has a fridge full of such packages. Once a month, he invites his colleagues for a meal. No one makes tastier baloney than he does, smoked, with spices brought from exotic countries and fine wines.

He left the piece in plain sight and went into the grass. He won't last for too long he thought. First came a cat, then a skinny dog. Collateral victims, he laughed, what can you do? Life is pink. A pink, fleshy slice. Then he waited patiently until dusk, when he caught his scent. He saw kim enter, and the cage's clamps snapped shut behind him. He watched him devour to survive, when in fact he was as good as dead. We'll have food for winter, he's a big man, the mouse told himself, giving a sly smile. He was well-adjusted, having survived five laboratories.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In July 2024, the group has 13,200 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
